1. Spend time with anxiety

This is by far the most effective way of overcoming anxiety for good.

It's involves actually spending time doing that thing that makes you nervous.

Exposing yourself to your fears is very effective in coping with them.

Take for instance you’re anxious about speaking in public. This will make you to avoid any situation that involves public speaking.

But you’ll find out that the more you avoid these situations, the more anxious you get about those situations.

To actually conquer your fear of public speaking, you don’t run from it. You embrace your fear. Look for every opportunity to speak in public.

Yes, it’s going to be scary, but it works.

To make it easy for you, you can start by enrolling in a public speaking course. Not just any public speaking course, not an online course, but a course where you’re made to speak in public or address others each time you meet for the course.

And when you’re out there speaking, don’t try to hide the fact that you’re anxious or nervous. Embrace your anxiety, let it out. It’s a public speaking course, so no one is going to laugh at you.

So, this is your time to give that anxiety all the freedom it needs.

You’ll find out that, the more you put yourself in that situation, your anxiety will leave because you’ll come to realize that it’s not that bad to stand before people and address them.

That’s the most effective way to overcome any type of anxiety, not just that of public speaking.

Anxiety is sensing danger that is not there. The danger is not there. Your body will not agree with you even if you tell it that the danger is not there. So, it will still be anxious.

To convince your body that the danger is not there, you have to put it in that situation. Putting yourself in that situation, time and again helps to convince your body that truly, there’s no danger, and the anxiety will be gone.

2. Exercise regularly

Apart from making you physically fit, exercising also makes you mentally fit as well. It requires concentration, thus taking your mind off your anxious thoughts.

Anxiety is something I’ve had to battle with in my life. Mine was majorly fear of public speaking. I usually avoided every opportunity to speak in public.

But there was one I couldn’t avoid. I had to give a speech before a group at a meeting, a meeting a was a part of.

I had read somewhere that exercising helps relieve anxiety, so 2 weeks before the speech I engaged myself regularly in vigorous exercise.

I didn’t do anything complicated. I just bought a skipping rope and I skipped with it twice every day for 45 minutes each.

It was a lot of work. I didn’t know skipping rope was tough work, but it was very good for my body. It kept my heart beating really fast. I wanted to be prepared physically as well as mentally before the speech.

The day came, I went there. I didn’t think about being nervous. I just went there and gave my speech. Everything went well.

I think the exercising I did paid off. It prepared me physically as well as mentally.

So, if you’re anxious about anything, exercising is a very good and effective way to keep your mind off it, as well as help become fit mentally and physically.
